FIA started an investigation following the release on the internet of an amateur video showing the wrong start of Ferrari's driver Felipe Massa during Belgium F1 race. After the warm-up lap, Massa's bolide had an incorect position being too close to the start line and giving an advantage of a half-car length to the Brazilian driver. It was a weird situation because the race director Charile Whiting did not receive any notice from the people on the track and also the electronic systems did not detect the wrong-going start.
Felipe Massa will not be penalized, however FIA wants to make sure that such incidents will not repeat in the future. Massa ranked fourth at Spa-Francorchamps and his position will stand as the result was final and not contested during the race.
