Beyonce wins MTV trio in Berlin

Beyonce claimed a trio of trophies at the MTV Europe music awards in Berlin. The US singer competed rivals such as Leona Lewis to win the Best Female and Best Song categories for Halo and Best Video for Single Ladies (Put a ring on it). Beyonce dedicated the Best Song winning to her husband, the rapper Jay-Z and said "There is only one person I want to thank, and that is Jay for putting a ring on it". The MTV Music Awards was hosted by singer Katy Perry for the secong year consecutive. This year ceremony was held in Berlin to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall fall.
The U2 band won the best live act and also performed in a free open-air concert at the Brandenburg gate. Jay-Z took the Best Urban award, the German band Tokyo Hotel was awarded Best Group and Eminem won Best Male surpassing Robbie Williams and Mika. Linkin Park claimed Best World Stage Performance and Pixie Lott was named the inaugural MTV push artist. The MTV 2009 Berlin was broadcast worlwide to more the half a billion homes.
